From the Director: Why Legislative Elections Matter

The following is a statement from Lois Anderson, Oregon Right to Life’s executive director.

Over the last several days, Republican gubernatorial candidate Knute Buehler has made repeated statements about his support of keeping abortion legal and free until the moment of birth. Just take a look through his campaign’s Facebook page to see for yourself. At the same time, Planned Parenthood and others have repeatedly spread lies about abortion and claimed that Buehler is against abortion.

I want pro-life advocates to know from the source that ORTL PAC does not and cannot support Knute Buehler for governor.  Despite Planned Parenthood’s attempts to paint Buehler as part of the pro-life movement, Buehler himself has made it clear he is not willing to defend unborn lives at any stage.  He is even out-of-step with the majority of Oregonians who oppose third-trimester abortions!

We all know that Kate Brown is extremely pro-abortion as well.  So where does that leave pro-life voters?

This situation makes it even more critical for pro-life advocates to turn out this fall in support of legislative and local candidates who are willing to stand up to protect the unborn.  We especially need more pro-life champions in the legislature to act as a check on our pro-abortion governor, whomever it will be.

The general election will be here before you know it.  Our political office is looking for people willing to volunteer this fall to distribute our voter guide, make phone calls, or otherwise support the dozens of great pro-life candidates running for local offices.  Click here to add your name today.
